چکیده

In this paper we describe how linguistic patterns can contribute to ontology development by enabling an easier reuse of some ontological resources. In particular, our research focuses on the reuse of ontology design patterns and ontology statements by relying on linguistic constructs at different stages of the reuse process. With this aim, we propose the employment of lexico-syntactic patterns with two objectives: 1) the reuse of ontology design patterns, and 2) the validation of ontology statements for their subsequent reuse in the ontology development. To illustrate the proposed approaches, we will present some examples of lexicosyntactic patterns and their employment in the reuse of ontology design patterns and in the validation of ontology statements.

Ontology-Driven Extraction of Linguistic Patterns for Modelling Clinical Guidelines

Evidence-based clinical guidelines require frequent updates due to research and technology advances. The quality of guideline updates can be improved if the knowledge underlying the guideline text is explicitly modelled using the so-called guideline patterns (GPs), mappings between a text fragment and a formal representation of its corresponding medical knowledge. Ontology-driven extraction of ...

A Review of Common Problems in Linguistic Resources and a New Way to Represent Ontological Relations

Existing lexical resources have taxonomic structure related problems that negatively impact the results of domain-specific applications. This is the result of an approach that focuses on implementation and content issues rather than on questions of design, semantic cleanness and application usefulness. Although taxonomy structuring methodologies have been developed to correct some of these prob...

The Protégé Ontoling Plugin: Linguistic Enrichment of Ontologies in the Semantic Web

This paper presents our approach in establishing a framework for semi-automatic linguistic enrichment of ontologies. This effort has been pursued through the definition and implementation of a set of general purpose API for accessing a wide variety of linguistic resources and through the development of Ontoling, a plug-in for the popular ontology development tool Protégé, which allows for brows...
